Data & Video Links for Air Platforms

Tadiran Spectralink’s product line includes standard clear and jam-resistant data links, used mainly for command, telemetry and video transmissions.

Spectralink’s full-featured “open architecture” modular platform data link systems are designed to provide fast, reliable and cost-effective data link solutions for all current and future unmanned platforms. These cutting-edge data link systems meet all the requirements for supporting high rate analogue and digital data transmission for all modern payload systems.

The systems’ modular platform core is a programmable modem and controller around which any data link customization can be achieved quickly, simply and economically. The clear or jam resistant uplink and downlink has an operating range of 200 kilometers with line-of-sight and 350 kilometers with airborne or grounds relays. Frequency ranges are L, S, C, X, and Ku band, and a data and video (analogue or digital) rate of up to 80 Mbps. Environmental specifications meet MIL-STD-810D and Naval specs.

Search and Rescue Systems

Tadiran Spectralink is a major player in designing, developing and marketing state-of-the-art Search and Rescue (SAR) systems for a variety of applications, based on field-proven concepts of operation and incorporating leading edge technologies.

Spectralink began focusing on Search and Rescue (SAR) systems long before these became featured items in the press. Very few companies in the world have comparable expertise and experience in the development, production and supply of increasingly advanced systems that answer to the demanding requirements of today and the needs of tomorrow.

The combat-proven ASARS (Airborne Search And Rescue System), consisting of the advanced PRC-434G/SV Personal Survival Radio (PSR) and the ARS-700G Airborne Interrogator and Guidance System (AIGS), enables rescue forces to carry out safe and accurate, one-pass pickup under the most severe combat conditions. This is accomplished using an advanced single-burst interrogation/response protocol. Sophisticated range and direction measurement techniques, with full 360 coverage and up to 200 km operational range, enable the system to accurately pinpoint the downed crew´s position from safe distances, with final approach accuracy within a few meters.

First-pass pickup, automatic bailout activation, multiple operating frequencies, fallback voice communications, and a supplementary beacon mode for interoperability with other SAR systems, are standard features of the system. ASARS is easily installed in all helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft.

Satellite Communications

The satellite communications systems developed and produced by Tadiran Spectralink are among the most advanced in their class. The Telemetry, Tracking, Ranging and Control (TTR&C) systems for use with Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites are in service in the satellites of the Ofeq, EROS and TechSat programs. Besides the outstanding operational capabilities of these systems, low weight, volume and power consumption are among their most significant advantages.

Tadiran Spectralink is one of the few companies in the world to develop and produce both the spaceborne and ground segments of the data link system, plus fully integrated Ground Control Stations.

Spectralink’s third-generation fully digital communications system for LEO and micro-satellites free considerable satellite real-estate for larger payloads, allowing for extended useful life and superior functionality of the space platforms. Customers can order these data link systems configured to operate according to the ESA (European) or TDRSS (NASA) standards.
